Dreams vs fear of Failing

I am one of those people that is always coming up with ideas or ways of improving my life not because I don't love my life but because I feel that I could always be doing more and this could be by doing lots of different things like wanting to earn more money, improve my career, trying something different, go on a diet, get fit. Now I am in no way saying that I always achieve what I set out to do and sometimes it can take me years to get round to doing something but I like to think that I have always tried my best to achieve my goals.

But since becoming a mum my feelings have changed not in the sense that I don't want any of the things that I previously did because I still do but its more to do with the fact I feel now that I am classed as an "adult" and I have responsibilities such as mortgage, bills and having children to feed, you know just everyday stuff that all us adults have to do. I now have soooo much fear of failing because I have so much more to lose and I can't afford to make wrong decisions.

I have had a variety of jobs since I was 14, my first job was in Woolworths as a sales assistant and it kind of went from there, I have always been very lucky to find better jobs as soon as I left one.
I have also worked as a lifeguard, a waitress, a leisure assistant, I qualified as an Aerobics and Aqua Aerobics instructor I when I was around 19/20 and taught classes for a couple of years at a local hotel but I didn't feel very confident or that I was any good at it so that started to get me down so I started thinking about what I could do and I decided that I wanted to become a Wedding Planner or work within the wedding industry by pure luck one of the ladies that used to attend one of my classes mentioned to me that she knew a lady that worked in Events/Weddings at a hotel and that she was sure if I got in touch with her that she could give me some advise about how to get into the industry.
When I got in touch with Beverley (Wedding Planer) it actually turned out that her assistant was going on Maternity leave and she was looking for someone to cover her maternity and I ended up applying for the job and getting it, I was so happy and overwhelmed it was an amazing job and leaving it is the one biggest regrets I have because I loved it but I was offered another job which was more money and a more challenging role at the time I thought it would be a good career move but as it turned out it wasn't, it was by far the biggest mistake I have ever made.

From there I then got another opportunity to work in a call centre on a part time basis and this was only ever meant to be a temp job just whilst we saved to buy a house as I still worked full time at the hotel, but I got pregnant soon after starting there and after my maternity I decided to just go back to the call centre as I couldn't commit to hotel hours with a baby it wouldn't be fair on me or the hotel and the call centre gave me the hours and support that I needed 7 years later I'm still there and although its a great job and a great company that I work for my passion is still within events and Weddings.

So a couple of years ago I decided that I wanted to become a Bridal Make up artist and started watching YouTube and reading blogs, I am still chasing this dream but the course I would like to do is quite expensive and in between everything else and normal life it is quite a big financial commitment, I know that I will get there in the end, its just hard to commit to something that involves an initial financial investment when you don't know if you are going to succeed or not.
I'm terrified of failing and because over the last few years I have lost some confidence in myself so the fear is even more apparent this is the main reason why I decided to start my blog and my YouTube channel to build on my confidence and I feel that its a good way to teach myself how I can improve on my make up skills.
Starting my YouTube channel and blog is something that I had been thinking about for a couple of years but I just kept coming up with excuses as to why people wouldn't watch my videos or read my blog, and then after speaking to my cousin Catia I decided that I should just give it a go, at the end of the day I had nothing to lose, I just thought what's the worst that could happen!!! Life is too short and I feel that with each video I gain more confidence and knowledge.

I know I'm only just starting this journey and I hope that I will be able to achieve my goal of becoming a successful Bridal Make up artist, and I am so glad that I finally decided to start my blog and my YouTube channel I don't know if it will lead anywhere but for now I am just super proud of myself for simply just starting them!!! Onwards and upwards!!!

I hope to inspire people to give in to the fear of the unknown and have the confidence to follow your dreams. I have seen a lot of quotes recently on social media and one has really stuck on my mind.......

Forever Living Review / First Impressions

So a few weeks ago something very exciting happened, I was asked if I would try out the Forever Make up and see what I thought of it, of course I was very excited but also little scared as I never thought I would be asked to do anything like this especially so soon after starting my YouTube channel.

I'm no beauty expert or guru I am just a girl who loves make up and I mainly started my YouTube channel to give me a bit of confidence and I thought it would be a good way of me looking back at the looks that I have created and learning from them, never did I think in a million years that someone would ask me to do a review on some make up!!

I am so grateful for the opportunity so thank you Lianne I had a great time trying out the products!!

The video is not perfect but I am still very new at this and hope to improve and become more confident with each video that I do.

So I am just going to go through each product that I used give the description that I have found online and also my thoughts on it, for further information such as ingredients I will put a link to their website at the bottom. I have done a video on my YouTube Channel Letty's Sparkle and I will add a link below in case you may want to see the make up in action.

So Starting with Skin care - again I must just add that I am not a skin care expert I am just a normal person giving my own opinions on products that were lent for me to try over a few days.

I believe the main ingredient in possibly most if not all of their products is Aloe even the make up. Please check out their website for more information.

Aloe Moisturising Lotion
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/063_large.jpg
A silky moisturising cream – containing nourishing aloe, jojoba oil, collagen and elastin – that leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. This lotion moisturises your face, hands and body whilst maintaining the skin’s natural pH balance. Its easy-to-absorb formula also makes a great base for makeup application.
£12.73

I used this for a few days and I must say I love it, its so moisturising on my face, its quite a thick cream which for me is perfect my skin always feels quite tight and dry after I clean it, but after using it for a couple of days it didn't, and now that I haven't used it for a few days as I have returned the products I can really see the difference. Looking forward to payday so I can treat myself.
Aloe Hand and Face Soap
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/AloeHandFaceSoap200x200.gif
Rich and creamy moisturising liquid soap, perfect for the entire family. The mild and non-irritating formula creates a luxurious lather to cleanse the face, hands and body on a daily basis.
£11.27

I used this a couple of times just whilst I was in the shower just to wash my face, it was really nice and refreshing, and my skin felt lovely and soft after.
Alluring Eyes
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/FLP/image/products/233_large.jpg
Revitalising eye cream that reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and helps skins elasticity.
£20.71
This was a lovely eye cream, I struggle to find eye creams that I can use as often when I have tried other eye creams before they really hurt and irritate my eye area, but this was lovely it was cooling and very gentle, I did not use it long enough to be able to comment whether it reduces the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles but again this may be one that I may have to try as soon as the one I am currently using runs out.

Aloe Scrub
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/238_large.jpg
This delicate scrub works to remove dead skin cells which clog up pores and cause skin to look dull. Gentle enough for everyday use for your face or body, the natural ingredients of jojoba and aloe vera help to exfoliate, revealing healthy-looking skin.
£13.44
This scrub was so so gentle on my skin, it was lovely I would probably even go as far as saying that its one of the best I have ever tried. It exfoliates without being aggressive, I also believe that it cleared up some of my blackheads on my nose after a couple of uses, it was brilliant, again this is something that I would buy.
Make up - Flawless by Sonya is what its called and its also Aloe based.

Cream to Powder Foundation - Sandy
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/385-FOUNDATION-Sandy-200x200.jpg
A new and innovative aloe vera-inspired formula. Transform from a luxurious, creamy texture to a silky powder, leaving the skin soft with a healthy and natural glow.
£28.20
Lovely foundation, so easy to blend, the shade that I was lent was Sandy which was perfect for me. It is so lightweight on my skin it didn't feel cakey at all it actually almost felt like I had nothing on, the coverage is pretty good also. It was sets to a powder but leaving a very natural looking glow to the skin, overall very impressed with this product!! had never tried anything like it before and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Baked eyeshadow Quad - Rose Bronze
Eyeshadow Rose Bronze

Enriched with aloe and natural minerals, each quad of colours offers a coordinated palette of nourishing shades that take the guesswork out of pairing your favourite Sonya colours together.
This eyeshadow quad features 4 shimmering neutral shades of rose-gold, deep rose-bronze, warm gold and pale gold.
£30.50
These were lovely eyeshadows to use, they were not very pigmented but they are buildable and very easy to blend, I loved the colours too, they had the most beautiful sparkle/shimmer in them it was very subtle but stunning.

Brilliant Blush - Mia
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/392-BRILLIANT-BLUSH-Mia-200x200.jpg
Our aloe-inspired, silky powder blush delivers perfect, sheer colour to highlight, contour and define your cheeks, creating a natural and healthy glow
£18.16
Lovely blush, it was pigmented so a little went a long way, very easy to blend, it gave that pop of colour that looks natural.

//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/408-LIPSTICK-Copper-200x200.jpg
Infused with our very own aloe vera, this innovative flawless by Sonya Delicious Lipstick creates the perfect veil of colour for rich, luxurious and deliciously flawless lips.
£17.30
The formula of this lipstick is just lovely, it felt so moisturising and creamy, it didn't dry out at all it just kept my lips lovely and soft. The colour wasn't something that I would normally pick but once it was on it was actually ok, maybe I need to learn to be a bit more adventurous with my lip colours :)

Flawless Volumizing Mascara
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/415-Volumizing-Mascara-200x200.jpg
Our aloe-inspired flawless by Sonya Volumizing Mascara creates volume and curl for glamorous, dramatic lashes coating each lash with a velvety finish, to leave them looking beautiful, healthy and flawless.
£21.36
This is my Favourite product of them all, this mascara is amazing!!! It separates, lengthens and volumises your lashes its just amazing there are no other words that I can use to describe it other than amazing.

Mineral Make up - (Apologies but I can not remember the shade I was given)
//gallery.foreverliving.com/gallery/GBR/image/products/411-MINERAL-Makeup-Natural-200x200.jpg
Provides soft coverage and a flawless luminous glow.
£25.63
This was again a lovely mineral foundation, I did have to apply a few layers on but once it was all blended in which didn't take much effort to do it look lovely. For a  natural everyday look I feel like this would be perfect as it was so easy to apply.

Aloe BB Crème - Sandy

£32.64
The BB crème is by far the best one I have ever tried its just amazing!!! The Description given above is pretty dead on accurate. I must be honest when I first saw the price I was a little shocked but as soon as I tried it on I totally understood why, it is incredible, it not only leaves your skin feeling so moisturised, smooth and soft but it also covers up all the imperfections that you want covered. Its amazing although I am totally gutted that the price is so high I am pretty sure I may have to treat myself for my next birthday!!

Going back to work and organising our lives with 2 children!!!

I had started this post a couple of weeks ago when I was feeling very emotional about not being ready to go back to work, I was feeling so anxious, but I decided to restart the post as I am now 2 days away from going back and feeling a lot more relaxed about it, and I think the main reason is because I have come to terms with the fact that this is happening and I have to just get on with it. I also feel that having a catch up with the girls from work really helped and it made me remember how lucky I am to have such brilliant work friends!!!

Although I'm still not singing and dancing about going back I do feel a lot better about it, don't get me wrong I would much rather stay at home with my babies than go work, but unfortunately that's not an option for me, I do enjoy working always have but when me and my husband decided to have children we also decided that we want to spend all the time we can with them especially when they are little as we are fully aware that one day they will grow up and go live their lives as we all do. So while we have them with us we want to make the most of it. So I feel when I am at work its time that I am missing out with the kids but on the other hand going back means we will be better off financially and can treat them and take them on days out and holidays and enjoy the nicer things in life.

To be able to give them the best upbringing possible we always do our best to sort out work and our lives around the children, we have always been that way even when we just had Elsie. We are very lucky that both of our employers are really flexible as I will be going back on a set rota my husband will work around my shifts so that on a daily basis one of us will have the kids (Elsie is now at school so during term time in the day we will only have Cody) on the odd weekend that both of us have to work we are very lucky that we have family and friends that have offered to look after them for us, but I do feel quite bad as before we only had to sort out childcare for 1 child but now its for a child and a baby, so it is a lot more work to give to people, I know that they don't mind, especially as they will mainly go to our parents and they love spending time with the grandchildren but I can't help feeling guilty.

I am so glad that I now feel much calmer about going back to work, I was really worried about everything but I know that it will all work out, I was sat thinking about everything and making it such a big deal that I kinda had to give myself a little pep talk and I was like "Letty you are going back to the office for around 2 weeks and then your back working from home!!! so stop being so silly it is what it is, everything always works out and this will too, now snap out of it!!!" LOL sometimes we ladies like to complicate things far too much, but hey ho that is just how I am eventually I come back down to earth and realise that there are much bigger problems in the world.

I just wanted to share this because I know how difficult it is to leave our little babies when we first go back to work, but actually it is ok to do that and everything will be ok. In my opinion I think that we feel guilty about leaving them and that then turns into anxiety and stress, but it takes a while for us to realise that we have no reason to feel guilty that we are leaving them with people whom we trust very much and that we know will look after them and keep them safe.

Hope you enjoy this post, thank you for taking time to read it.
Lots of love

Me And My Princess, Make Up Video

Update on Weaning - 1 month on

So we have now been weaning baby Cody for about a month and dare I say it, its going very well so far he likes everything he has tried, but it is early days yet.

I really wanted to do most of it myself this time around because with my first (Elsie) I didn't really do much of it, I did do it for the first couple of weeks, but for some reason didn't do it as often as I would have liked to. So this time round I really wanted to do it all myself and so far I have done quite well until I forgot my frozen food in the freezer... so I decided to pop to Asda as they had their baby event so I could kill 2 birds one stone, I could have a little look round and pick up some ready made baby food.
When I reached the baby food section there was a pregnant lady stood there with her partner so I thought I would just have a little look at other stuff and waited until they moved, as she turned I recognised her as I used to work with her a few years back, but as she didn't seem to recognise me as I didn't want to be embarrassed I didn't say hello, I just walked over to the food and started having a look, the same couple that was stood there before felt that it was necessary to stand behind me and have a quite loud conversation about baby food that sort of went like this... the woman said "I will never be giving our baby any of that crap" man said " yeah I know its just full of crap, we don't even know what's in it" woman "there is no excuse for it, its just pure laziness, its disgusting, I will be making all my own food" and the conversation went on for a bit longer, now I have no clue if it was aimed at me but I felt like it was as they were stood behind me looking over what I was doing, I felt quite hurt and annoyed that they felt this was ok to do and that they were quite happy to stand there and judge me. Its times like these that I wish I was a confrontational person because I should have given them a piece of my mind but as I'm not built that way I just grabbed a sachet of food and walked off trying holding back the tears from coming out as I felt it was a personal attack at me as they had no reason to be stood there especially as they made it very clear that they had no intention of giving any of it to their unborn child. I wish I would have said something but never mind.

I know that some parents love to give their babies only food that they make them selves and that's obviously brilliant and what's best for them and that's my aim too, but  sometimes its not always possible, and with parenting things don't always go to plan. As I was no where near my house so I decided that my best option was give my baby some ready made food, the way this couple were talking behind me was almost like I was giving him drugs or something. I felt so bad that when I got to my car I called my husband, I think mostly because no one has the right to make you feel like your a bad parent, especially without knowing you.

The reason I decided to share this is not only to have a little rant and let it all out and it has been playing on my mind but its also just to try to make people aware that most parents are doing their best and again most of us have our children's best interest at heart, we all have different parenting ways and ideas and we also all have different struggles, and nothing hurts more than someone making you feel like you are a bad parent, out of everything that I will do and achieve in my life the one thing that I DO NOT want to fail is my children they mean the world to me and I will always put them first, and I'm pretty sure that the majority of parents feel this way too. I hope that people find this useful and maybe think twice before commenting or judging parents.

Rant over lets get back to the reason for this post....

Week One
I steamed some carrots and pureed  it, I made enough so I had some left over to freeze. For the first couple of days he just had a couple of teaspoons. I would defrost a cube at a time. I also baked a sweet potato and gave him a couple of teaspoon as the days went by I increased the amount. The first time he had the carrot his facial expression we so funny he was a little unsure, but he very quickly got he hang of it. He loved sweet potato and this was so easy as I just mashed it up with a fork.

Week Two
Again in this week I steamed everything, he had Apples, Pears, Carrot, Parsnip, Baked Sweet potato. I must say his favourite was the Apple he loved this. By now he was having a cube a day, and he also had an Ella's Kitchen carrot puree. I also started giving him Cerelac (which is Wheat with milk cereal) I have the Portuguese version which Cody's godmother brought back from Madeira, me and all my brothers had it as children, he loved it. I have checked online and you can get it in Asda, Tesco and other shops in the UK I had never actually seen it here before.

This is the Portuguese version that I have                                    And this is the one sold here (which I will try to order)

Week Three
This week I increased the amount of times he was eating so we started the day by giving him his bottle of milk, then mid morning I would give him some purred fruit i.e. Apple, pear, strawberry and sometimes we also mixed them with some baby rice just to give it a bit of texture or we would give him some Cerelac or baby porridge. Then he would have another bottle of milk around lunch time, and late afternoon he would have some steamed pureed vegetables. In the evening he would have another bottle of milk, and occasionally he would wake up at around 10/11pm for another bottle and sometimes I would add a little Cerelac in his bottle to make it a bit more substantial I would only do this if I felt he hadn't eaten much during the day.

Week Four
From this week we stuck to the same pattern as week 3 but we I started mixing vegetables and fruits to give him some different flavours and I also started giving him some baby snacks, I have only tried him on 2 so far the first one was the Ella's Kitchen Grab Me Melty Puffs and the Kiddylicious Wafers, we have got both the Blueberry and the banana ones but he has only tried the blueberry ones so far.
kiddylicious wafers children snack

We are now is week 5 and still going strong, he is doing so well and he loves his food. I will do another update maybe in a month or so and share his progress.

I also wanted to just do a little disclaimer just to say that I am just a mum and I am not in any way giving any advice or saying that this is the best way to wean, I am simply sharing what I have been doing and what works for me and my family and if I can help someone then that's brilliant.

My first ever video, something that I have wanted to do for a long time but never had the confidence to do, my daughter asked me to do one with her so I thought yep why not, I was quite nervous and I do look quite miserable throughout it I almost didn't post it, but Elsie is sooooo funny in it I thought what the hell!!! She is just amazing!!!! Hope you enjoy!!!

Glossy Box Review

Glossybox is a my little treat each month, how it works is I pay a monthly subscription of £10.00 plus £3.25 Post and Packaging and I get a box delivered to my home address every month, within the box you get 5 beauty products, they do vary in size for example they can be Full Size, Travel Size or Sample Size and the content can vary from skin care, make up, Nail Polish basically anything in Beauty but you don't choose its all a surprise. which I personally love.

I have been subscribed to Glossybox since July and I do love it, its like a little present every month, I always get overwhelmed when I go to Boots or Superdrug to buy skincare and make up and there's so much choice that quite often I leave empty handed (although more often then not I will leave with something for my babies).

With Glossybox as its all really random I get to try products that I wouldn't normally, some of it has been really good some of it hasn't been to my taste, but if I'm totally honest I have used most of it. I may do a post about the best and worst that I have gotten from Glossy box in the future.

Below are some pictures of what the January Glossybox looked like and what came in it:

Weaning Baby Cody

So I decided to start weaning Baby Cody this week, he is 5 and a half months, I have noticed a few things recently which promted me to start weaning him a couple of weeks early than the recommended 6 months, he has for the last couple of months been drinking 4-5 8oz bottles of formula milk each day, which he has been pretty happy with, but last week I noticed that he just didnt seem  satisfied after some of his feeds as I was really unsure whether to start weaning him now or wait a couple of weeks I did a bit of research and I decided to go for it, then realising that now came the hard bit.

The hardest thing for me was all the changes in guidelines because when I had Elsie we could start weaning at 4 months , and I remember that I didn't feel comfortable doing Baby Led Weaning, I think mainly because being a first time mum I was terrified of her choking and the thought of just giving her a piece of food for her to eat literally terrified me, I remember going out with some friends who had a little girl a couple of months older than Elsie and we are all sat there and this little baby was eating chicken and some veg, which I thought was amazing and I remember thinking that her parents were really brave, I have also have a niece since now, she is almost 18 months old and she has been baby led, so I thought I would maybe try this with Cody but when it came down t it, I couldn't do it.

I kinda feel a bit annoyed with myself for not being able to even try but I know that I always do what I feel is best for my children and at the end of the day thats all I can do as a parent, its always best to go with your gut instinct.
Parenting is one of the hardest things we have to go through in life and I know for sure that its the most rewarding as well so all we can do is look after them and bring them up however we think is best for them, each baby/child are different.

 I did go out and purchase a few things for weaning I mainly shopped in Boots but I also went into TK Max and Home Bargains and found some really lovely stuff, I will add some photos, if you would like me to add prices and links please comment below. I got what I thought we would need to start with I am not sure if we will use it all and once I've been using everything for a few weeks I may do a review on what I bought stating what I have used the most and if there is anything that I wouldn't buy again.

Its still very early days and has only been 3 days since we started and so far it has gone quite well...

Monday - I steamed some carrots then puréed them, he found the texture quite strange but he seemed to enjoy it, although it was quite funny to watch his little facial expressions, I also gave him a bit of Baby Rice and he wasn't keen on this at all, I think next time I will mix it up with some puréed fruit.

Tuesday - I steamed some Apples and Pears and then  puréed them, I first gave him a little of each separately and then gave him some together and he loved all 3, I found the texture and consistency of this a lot smoother then the Carrots so I do think he enjoyed this a lot more.

Wednesday - I baked some sweet potato for about an hour in the oven until it was nice and soft, I then took the skin off and mashed it up with a fork, he absolutely loved this and he eat quite a bit of it.

As I did extra Carrot, apple and pear purees and have frozen it, I will be using this over the next few days.

Thank for taking the time to read my blog,

Letty xxxxx
I thought these were cute as they have a little lid/cover for the spoon, quite useful if your out and about and cant clean them for whatever reason.

All of the spoons I got, the ones on the left hand side are long ones so you can reach the end of those baby jars, and the ones in the middle turn white if the food is too hot, which I thought would be good.

I got an overall Bib which came with a bandana bid too as a set, and the other came in a set of 3, thought they would be useful as they can be wiped clean.

Some pots so I can do batched of purées and freeze them.

A free flowing cup from them to drink water, when you start weaning them they should then have water which has been boiled and cooled down. Midwife said that a free flow cup is best as they are learning how to drink and eat, sometime the ones that babies have to suck can be quite difficult for babies to do.

Some more pots with lids mainly to feed him from, or for when he starts having finger food I can take them out with me.

Had never seen this before its a bowl that you fill up with warm water in to keep the baby food warmer for longer, will do a proper review on this once I have used it a few times.

These are for me to take frozen cubed food from pots I can then keep them in their shape but in a bag so I can reuse the pots to freeze something else.

No reason really for buying this other than its Disney which I Love and I thought it was cute.

I got this blender as I have never had a hand held one before and as I would like to try to make my own baby food, I thought it would be a good investment.

A little about me

Hey there I'm Letty, I am 30 years old and I live in Bournemouth a little town in the south of the U.K. I am originally from Madeira (Portugal) a little island in the Atlantic Ocean, I moved to the UK when I was 10 with my parents, I now live with my husband Darren we have been together for 12 years but married just under 4 years. We have 2 beautiful children Elsie who is 6 years old and Cody who is 5 months and a bit. I decided to create this blog just really to share my thoughts/experiences with people who may like the same things as me or maybe are going through the same things as me. And I also wanted something for me to look back on one day and for me to show my babies that this is what we did and what we saw, I mean of course social media is great for that sort of stuff but I feel this may be a good way too as I can write about how I felt about something or somewhere we went and that sort of thing. I don't really have any specific ideas about what the blog will contain it will all just be me and my opinion and experiences that I have had with places or things that I have had to buy for example. I will be blogging as and when I can in the middle of mummy duties and in a couple of months I shall be going back to work 😁😁 which obviously I am very much looking forward to 😉.... Think this post just tells you a little about me if you want to see what I get up to stay tuned for further posts!!! 😀😀😀
